Excellent videos 5: Luciano Viaro

Three time Mille Miglia Storica winner Luciano Viaro, born in 1942 sadly passed away the 22nd of February in 2011. But he was very alive at the wheel of his 1933 Alfa Romeo 6c 1500 G.S. Testa Fissa, as proves the video below. Viaro was a well respected competitor in the world’s most exciting rolling museum, the modern Mille Miglia.

Since the revival in 1977 the Mille is a regularity test over three days instead of a high speed race over 1000 miles without interruptions like it was until 1957. But nowadays most participants still enjoy putting the pedal to the metal and the video shows Viaro was not afraid of hard cornering. Careful cooperation with his co-driver however made him triumph in 2005, 2007 and 2008 when their score of penalty points was the lowest of all competitors on arrival in Brescia.
